Goodnight Marilyn...

Tonight Chase and I went out for dinner. We chose Michelangelo Ristorante. I've been wanting to go there for a long time and we figured once the baby comes, we probably won't be going out on spontaneous date nights much, so we went.

As the host walked us to our table, he said to me, "If it get's to cold, I can place a cover on the vent" and pointed down... right then I felt a gust of cold air... and I looked down and well, my skirt was almost up in my face! I was standing right beside our table and I guess it just so happens I was standing right above a vent! Yikes. I started laughing and laughing and pushing my skirt down, at least trying to as I slid into the booth. The host looked very embarrassed for me, laughed too and looked away. {Chase was behind me and claims to have not witnessed any of this situation!} The Host sure got a "cute" view of me....

But the food was delicious!! They bring out freshly baked bread with oil & vinegar. I had a salad with these delicious fresh sliced tomatoes and Chase had a tomato soup that was to die for, and I don't even like soup! Then I had Gnocchi Gorgonzola and Chase had Chicken Rosmarino. Yum yum yum.

As we were leaving, we had to pass the host again ... and he called out "Goodnight Marilyn!" Haha!! So funny that he would bring it up again, luckily I didn't feel that embarrassed... I probably should have, but oh well! It made for a funny story.

ps: Chase also brought me home some beautiful flowers today- he's so sweet!!

This photo-booth picture doesn't do the flowers justice.

Thank you for the showers, the baby showers!!

I had three.
One with family this summer, hosted by Chase's mom and sister.
A mother-daughter shower with my high school friends,
and my young women had one for me. {I'm the personal progress advisor.}

Grandma Hartley, Mom, Me

I didn't have my camera with me at this shower but luckily my sister took a couple shots on her phone. My sister-in-law also took a bunch of photos, so I'm just waiting to get copies of those too.

Me and the Young Women, they made me this adorable blanket.

At the YW shower, we played a lot of games.
One was guess how many squares of toilet paper fit around Brittany's Belly!
How many do you think it was??

Me with all the YW Leaders.

Andrea, Me and Lizzy (who is also preggo).
They helped with the shower.

Me with some of my friends from Highschool.

Cait and Me with our Mom's.
Her mom, Ann, hosted the shower at her house.
They were all very different and very fun!! We received a lot of much needed and much wanted baby goodies for us and Baby. I love hosting showers and going to showers but really love having them hosted for me! Thank you everyone!!

people say i am...

great, glowing, cute, super cute, beautiful, hot, precious, amazing, gorgeous, fancy, stunning, perfect, skinny, darling, pretty, sexy, great, awesome, adorable, happy, fabulous, funny, a babe, a model, and a lioness....

and some say i am a spy, killer, lover, thriller, kungfu fighter...

If you're ever feeling down, just go through your picture comments and make a list of what people have said about you. It can give you a little boost. Haha.

{warning: if you're feeling down because you used to be really skinny and pretty, it might do more damage to go back and look at all your pretty pictures of yourself... so proceed with caution.}

10 October 2010

{who could resist posting at 10:10 on 10-10-10?}

I taught a lesson to the Young Women today at Church. It was on the importance of service and doing nice things for each other, even they are just small nice things. I read the book Ordinary Mary's Extraordinary Deed to the girls. In the book, Mary does something nice for 5 people, and if those 5 people do something nice for 5 people, etc, etc... in 15 steps, over Six Billion people will have something nice done for them.

That's the whole world!!

A challenge for you for this week: Do something nice for FIVE people- you too can change the world!!

ps: Chase does kind things for me everyday, like bring me flowers or write me notes or rubs my feet or brings me water or asks if i need anything or give me a hug or makes me dinner or cleans our home or catches up the laundry or organizes our things or lifts heavy things for me, which aren't really that heavy, or just tells me he loves me... so I would like everyone to know that I love him!
isn't he adorable playing on the cart at ikea?

vegetable garden.

This year we bought a house, one thing Chase was most excited for was that we could could do what we wanted with the yard. One of the first things we did was dig up the dirt and make a garden box.... so we could plant our very own vegetable garden.
{click here to see it what it looked like in june... last picture of post}

Now that you've seen what it used to look like, here it is currently:
I took this picture of Chase "harvesting" through the window, he didn't know I was watching him.
We planted so many yummy things! Corn, Carrots, Peas, Peppers, Cucumbers, Zucchini, Squash, Tomatoes and Cherry tomatoes, Watermelon, Honeydew, Cantaloupe as well as Raspberries, Strawberries & Blackberries!! The berries are in their own row outside of the garden box to the left. My favourites and most often consumed were the tomatoes, cherry tomatoes and cucumbers.

Some of our harvest that day, perhaps our zucchini's a a tad overgrown!
Our garden was a little overgrown- perhaps when we planted it we didn't follow the directions with the seeds. We kept thinking that we weren't putting enough seeds in and we'd add a few extra here and there... and boy oh boy! It sure did grow and grow and grow!! The picture up there doesn't even show how big it really got.

I'm excited to continue to eat our veggies and to do it all again next year!!

peach pie.

My mom bought me a Bosch Mixer {a late wedding present} and gave it to me a few weeks ago.
Also a few weeks ago, Chase brought home a bunch of fresh picked peaches from one of the yards that he takes care of.
My sister has the best recipe for peach pie that I've ever tasted.

I decided to try them all out together and I made some delicious peach pies!!
Be jealous. They were amazing.

Chase was very impressed with me. Probably because I don't often bake... but now that I'm having a little baby girl, I'll have to up it a notch so she can reap the benefits of a baking mother. :)

Charity Never Faileth.

Last Saturday I went with my mom to the General Relief Society Meeting. It is held every year in the Conference Center, downtown Salt Lake and I always love to be able to actually see it live and be there. {That goes for any session of General Conference.}
Me and Mom in the Conference Center,
at the General RS Meeting on 09.25.10

I am better able to pay better attention & I get more out of the meeting when I attend, rather then watching it at home. Also the spirit is just that much stronger, with over 20,000 people meeting together. What else I love is the music....

The opening hymn was Count Your Blessings. This is a hymn that I sometimes feel is overdone, but this time it really resonated with me. Especially the last verse:

"So, amid the conflict whether great or small,
Do not be disheartened, God is over all;
Count your many blessings, angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end."

I can't help relating pregnancy to everything I hear these days. I also am having a really hard time dealing with the many challenges that come with being 8 months pregnant {i'll spare you my miserable details}... so this song was perfect for me!!

There were four great speakers that said a lot of really great things. I have just two things I want to remember/ share:
1. Read your scriptures and pray every day. Nothing is more important than doing the basics.
2. Love and serve one another without judging their outward appearances. Charity Never Faileth.

"Charity is having patience with someone who has let us down; it is resisting the impulse to become offended easily. It is accepting weaknesses and shortcomings. It is accepting people as they truly are. It is looking beyond physical appearances to attributes that will not dim through time. It is resisting the impulse to categorize others."
-President Thomas S. Monson

Did you have a favourite part?
a pretty photo of the LDS Salt Lake Temple taken with an iphone that night

I love Conference weekend {which is this weekend}. The Church has a great new, easy to use website now dedicated to conference which makes finding talks and listening to it live much easier. Here is the link to the new site. I recommend looking at it. If you want to go straight to the current sessions, here you go. I recommend watching them all.
